  1. Members are required to be currently enrolled in one of the exercise science activity classes (EXSC 148, 149, 152,153, 206) to use the KCKCC Wellness and Fitness Center (WFC) facility.

  2. All members are responsible to be familiar and comply with the policies and guidelines of the WFC. Contact WFC staff for any issues related to policy or guideline interpretation or enforcement.

  3. Members must be 18 years of age or older to exercise in the WFC. High school students can be dual enrolled in the WFC class. Children and infants are not allowed in the facility at any time.

  4. Members are required to have a current KCKCC Student ID card to workout. Driver's licenses are unacceptable. Student ID cards are free of charge and are issued through the Admissions Office, upper-level Jewell Building, room 3307, or call 913-288-7600 for times and availability.

  5. Members are required to “Sign In” and “Sign Out” at the front desk during each workout visit to get credit for that workout. Members that leave the facility for any reason are considered to have finished their workout and will be signed out.

  6. Members are required to put forth an effort to exercise during each workout visit. Loitering is not tolerated. Workouts are to be completed inside the WFC.

  7. Members are required to complete a minimum of 20 workout hours inside the WFC each semester. Workouts completed outside of the WFC are not added towards the total time. Members are not allowed to exercise outside the WFC facility until the 20 hour requirement is met.

  8. Members are expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior at all times. Engaging in boisterous, threatening, intimidating or abusive conduct is prohibited. In addition, failure to show full cooperation to WFC staff is prohibited. KCKCC reserves the right to remove, or have removed, any person(s) due to abusive conduct or a non-cooperative attitude.

  9. Members should immediately report any medical or non-medical emergencies, criminal activity, or lost or abandoned items to WFC staff. The college police is then notified for further action.

  10. Members are allowed one guest per semester. Guests are allowed one visit per semester. All guests are required to complete a Consent and Release Form prior to exercise and must be accompanied by the sponsoring member during the workout visit. Guests must be 18 years of age or older with a valid form of ID to participate.

  11. Members are encouraged to use a workout towel while exercising. Towel service is available at the front desk at no charge.

  12. Members are discouraged from applying perfume or cologne before exercising in the fitness center.

  13. Members are encouraged to observe proper personal hygiene by showering regularly, wearing clean clothing and using deodorant.

  14. Members are required to wear proper workout attire while exercising. The WFC staff reserves the right to determine what appropriate workout attire is.
    1. Indoor athletic style of shoes only. No acceptations. Shoes should be clean and dry before using the fitness equipment.
    2. Full length t-shirt or tank tops only. Sports bras must be worn with an appropriate shirt. Plastic or rubber suits are unacceptable and not allowed.
    3. Jeans, jean shorts and excessively loose fitting clothing are discouraged.

  15. Alcohol, smoking, tobacco products and illicit drugs are prohibited on campus. Members under the influence of drugs or alcohol are asked to leave the facility.

  16. Absolutely no WFC equipment is loaned out or borrowed at any time.

  17. All personal items should be stored in a locker. Members are responsible for having their own lock. Absolutely no gym bags are allowed in workout areas. Lockers are available for “Day Use Only” during workout periods. They cannot be used for overnight storage. Failure to do so within 48 hours results in the lock and locker contents being removed by college police.

  18. The WFC is not liable to any members or other person for personal property of either inherent worth or sentimental value that is either lost or abandoned in the facility. Personal property not in the custody of the member and unsecured is considered to be lost or abandoned. Personal property left in the fitness center overnight, either secured or unsecured, is considered to be lost or abandoned upon discovery. Any property lost or abandoned on the premises are turned over to KCKCC Police. WFC staff are not responsible for any members personal items held at the front desk.

  19. Please refrain from using cell phones in any area of the facility except in the front desk lobby area. These devices should be kept on vibrate or a very quiet ring. Conversations should be kept brief and as quiet as possible.

  20. No personal photography or video of any kind is permitted to take place inside the WFC without prior approval of WFC staff.

  21. No pets are allowed in WFC at any time. (Service animals are excluded.)

  22. No personal exercise/sporting good equipment is allowed in the WFC for use or storage. (Heart rate monitors and yoga mats are excluded.)

  23. Please ask WFC staff for assistance regarding the selection of the television stations. Stations can be changed upon request only from the front desk area.

  24. Headphones are required on all portable electronic devices.

  25. Any other restrictions established by the college to ensure the safety of all members and the proper treatment of the fitness center.

  26. Incomplete grades are not given for any WFC classes except for medical reasons. A written letter from your physician is required.
