Injury
If any injury occurs, contact the Wellness and Fitness Center (WFC) staff immediately. First aid supplies are available at the front desk area, and dispensed at the discretion of WFC staff on duty. In the event of an emergency, Student Health Services (college nurse) and KCKCC Police are notified for further action.
If you are injured:
- Do not try to move. Stop exercise immediately!
- If able, get the attention of WFC staff member.
- College police determines if EMS needs to be called. You can always refuse service once the EMS professionals arrive.
- Fill out a accident report regardless of how minor the injury may seem.
Fire
If you see fire/smoke, activate the nearest fire alarm pull station. If possible, call college police to report the location and the cause of the fire, if known.
When the fire alarm sounds, follow evacuation procedures.
- Everyone must leave immediately, even if there are not obvious signs of an emergency.
- Take any personal belongings you may need with you (wallets, purses, keys, cellphones, etc.).
- Follow directions given by emergency personnel. Remain calm and assist others in safely getting out.
- Take the stairs instead of the elevators.
- Evacuate the building to a safe location away from the structure.
Tornado
When the tornado alarm sounds, follow safety procedures.
- All people in the Health Professions Building should take cover in the restrooms on the lower level.
- Take any personal belongings you may need with you (wallets, purses, keys, cellphones, etc.).
- Stay away from glassed areas.
