Title IX

Kansas City Kansas Community College is committed to providing a non-discriminatory and harassment-free educational, living and working environment for all members of the campus community, including students, faculty, administrators, staff, trustees or visitors. This policy prohibits all forms of sexual or gender-based harassment and sexual assault.

Title IX, regulated by the Office of Civil Rights, prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally funded education programs and activities. All schools who receive any federal financial assistance must comply with Title IX.

Crime Awareness & Prevention

The KCKCC Police Department is involved in a broad spectrum of crime awareness and prevention programs. Literature and brochures are provided on a continual basis throughout KCKCC covering a variety of crime prevention topics. Upon occasion, the KCKCC Police Department will sponsor or co-sponsor seminars or programs on crime awareness and prevention. Also, media such as the school paper, e-mail, and flyer's are used to disperse crime awareness and prevention information to residents and businesses in our service area.

Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace

Employees

KCKCC has adopted a Drug and Alcohol Free workplace policy in an effort to prevent alcohol and drug use by its employees. KCKCC has also adopted a “smoke free campus policy” in an effort to prevent employees from smoking on campus and to improve their overall health. These policies can be found in the employee handbook and also located on the KCKCC website. Employees are required to adhere to the requirements of these policies. Failure to comply with these policies may result in disciplinary action. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the administration of this policy.

KCKCC complies with all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to alcohol, drug, and tobacco use, possession and distribution.

Parking & Traffic

Students who use KCKCC parking lots must obtain a parking sticker from the Police Department during enrollment. This sticker allows students the privilege of parking in the College parking lots without charge.

Emergency Security Phones

There are seven emergency phones located on campus.
  1. At the southwest corner of the pond by the State Ave entrance
  2. At the north end of the pond by the Lodge by the Lake.
  3. Outside of the Field House
  4. Between the Library and Health Professions Building
  5. On the north side of the Softball Field
  6. On the west of the Social Science & Behavior Building/Science Building.
  7. On the northwest corner of the Science Building.
Operating instructions are posted on each phone. Simply press the button, wait for response from the KCKCC Police, then state the location and nature of the emergency. The phones will pick up sound from within 30 feet. When activated, a bright blue strobe light flashes to help illuminate the area and to alert others of a possible emergency.
