Students Submitting Transcripts from Previous Institutions

Students are required to submit official high school and/or college transcripts when applying for KCKCC credit courses and financial aid.

Please note:

  • College or University Transcripts
    • Electronic Transcripts must be submitted directly from the issuing institution’s electronic secure service such as Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse or Credential Solutions.
    • Hand-carried copies are only accepted as official when delivered in the original institution’s sealed envelope.
    • We do not accept faxed college or university transcripts as official.
  • High School Transcripts
    • Electronic Transcripts must be submitted directly from high school to registrar@kckcc.edu.
    • Hand-carried copies are only accepted as official when delivered in the high school’s original sealed envelope.
    • We do accept faxed high school transcripts as official along with the high school’s fax coversheet.

Non-U.S. High School Transcripts

Students who attended high school or (upper) secondary school outside of the United States at a non-U.S. accredited school are required to submit a complete International High School Graduation Verification Request packet to the Admissions Office.

To submit your international high school transcripts for verification:

  • Download the International High School Graduation Verification Request Form from the link above.
  • Read all instructions and fully complete the International High School Graduation Verification Request Form.
    • Incomplete requests cannot be reviewed.
  • Gather your required, official high school or (upper) secondary school credentials; credentials not issued in English must be provided in the native language and be accompanied by an official English translation.
    • Required credentials vary by country.
    • “Official” credentials are the original, paper/hard-copy documents.
      • Copies, including but not limited to, photocopies, scans and images are not official and are not accepted.
    • Compile your completed International High School Graduation Verification Request Form, your official, original credentials and English translation, and submit your complete request packet in-person or via U.S. mail to the Admissions Office.

Transfer Credit

Enrolled, degree seeking students who have completed one semester at KCKCC have met the requirements to have transfer credits and grades posted to their KCKCC transcript.

Students seeking to transfer credit earned at another college to Kansas City Kansas Community College must provide an official transcript from all previous colleges to the Registrar’s Office.

  • Institutions may send official transcripts electronically to Kansas City Kansas Community College through a secure process (such as Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse). If an email address is used for the electronic transcript, please use: registrar@kckcc.edu.
  • Institutions should mail transcripts to:

  • Students may submit the transcripts in person if the transcripts are delivered in the sealed envelope from the granting institution.  They must bear the official seal of the other college. Photocopies and facsimiles are not acceptable as official college transcripts.

The Registrar’s Office will evaluate transcripts based on the student’s area of interest and will grant transfer credit only to courses that apply to students' program of study or meet degree requirements. Students who change their major program of study or degree plan may request that the Registrar’s Office reevaluate their transcripts based on the new program of study.

All transfer credit will be equated to the semester hour system. All credits earned with a D grade or higher will be articulated and calculated in students’ cumulative grade point average (GPA), as defined in the Grading System Policy 2.04. Quality points and grade points will be transferred from other colleges and universities and will be averaged into the KCKCC cumulative GPA.

U.S Colleges and Universities

Undergraduate transfer credits will be accepted from colleges and universities that are accredited by, or hold candidacy status with, one of the six regional accrediting bodies listed below. Graduate level coursework will not be evaluated.

  • Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
  • Accrediting Commission for Schools - Western Association of Schools and Colleges
  • Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
  • New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE)
  • Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU)
  • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
  • or other institutions approved by KCKCC.

KCKCC follows the American Council on Education's (ACE) published recommendations on the transfer of non-accredited institutions, including military and other training programs.

International Transfer Credit

Enrolled, degree-seeking students who have successfully completed one semester at KCKCC and attended college or university outside of the United States are eligible to have transfer credit and grades from their international college/university posted to their KCKCC transcript. International Colleges and Universities

KCKCC follows the guidelines established by National Association of Credit Evaluation Services (NACES) for credits earned from international institutions.

Applying for a Course-by-Course Evaluation

  • Review the websites of the current members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) for their individual application, documentation and fee requirements 
  • The list of current NACES members is available online at naces.org/members.html 
  • Costs/fees vary, typically ranging between $150.00 to $200.00 
  • Processing times vary, typically ranging between 7 to 10 business days; expedited processing is typically available for an additional fee 
  • Complete your selected agency’s application for a course-by-course evaluation, pay the evaluation fee, and submit all required documents.
  • Request that an official evaluation be sent directly to KCKCC at:

  • Carefully follow all application instructions on your selected evaluation agency’s website
    • Your credentials may be required to be submitted directly from your college/university
    • A Syllabus of university studies may be required in some cases.
    • Credentials not issued in English will likely require submission of an official English translation.
    • Many evaluation agencies also offer translation services for an additional fee
