College is for Everyone and is Affordable

KCKCC offers college classes for 10, 11, or 12 grade students in a high school district, students in an accredited homeschool program and students in foster care. Students could receive both high school and college credit for classes taken through KCKCC’s High School Partnerships program.

By completing college classes in high school, students can reach their educational and career goals while saving time and money! This opportunity is not limited to those seeking a four-year college degree. Many technical programs, such as cosmetology, culinary arts, automotive, electrical technology and others can also be completed while earning a high school diploma.

KCKCC’s lowest tuition rate is for high school students. And even better, many high schools offer discounted or free college classes with KCKCC. Tuition and fees may be paid in full by the State of Kansas and the school district. Kansas Foster Child Educational Assistance program provides a tuition waiver for foster care students; costs that are not waived are covered by the school district. Federal Financial Aid is not available to high school students.

Qualified Professors

Classes can be taught by a qualified high school teacher or college professors. Classes are offered at local high schools, online and at KCKCC’s three locations. All instructors have the educational background and expertise to teach the class and help prepare high school students for life in college.

Advantages of Your High Schooler Being a College Student

Students who take college credit in high school learn study skills, gain confidence for college, save money, reduce the time in college and fast-track their career goals.

Once the student is enrolled, they may get a KCKCC student photo ID. This ID also serves as a bus pass for free rides at RideKC. Other student resources include a free food pantry (main campus and TEC), technical support for email and laptops, free access to the fitness center (main campus), on campus and online library, discount rates for childcare (main campus), a dedicated advisor (main campus, TEC, PCC), and 24-hour mental health support through the Counseling and Advocacy Center.
