Proud to Partner with High Schools

Thank you for taking an active and key role in supporting and enhancing students' academic, career and emotional development. KCKCC is honored to partner with Kansas Board of Regents and several school districts to help students get a start on their college-level experiences.

KCKCC invites all partner counselors to the Counselor Breakfast held every October where staff share updates from the state, leadership and college divisions.

Enrollment Tips for Counselors Helping Students

  • Help students choose the right college classes for their career goals.
    • Some classes count for both high school and college credit. Keep in mind, not all colleges accept the college credit earned. The high school partnerships staff can provide answers via the Student Success Center on how classes transfer to other colleges and universities.
    • Other college classes in the career and technical path provide students with a KCKCC certificate or associate degree.
    • Students require prior approval from their high school counselor or administration to have these college courses count toward high school requirements.
    • The college strongly recommends that high school students limit their enrollment to 12 credit hours per semester. Students enrolling in more than 12 credits need to work with their counselor to submit an overload letter to the KCKCC High School Partnerships program at academichsp@kckcc.edu.
  • Student must have recent placement scores for composition, speech, psychology, intro to literature, and math.
  • Assist students completing the Concurrent/Dual Enrollment form and/or the TEC/PCC Enrollment Form. *Both forms are available in Spanish.
    1. Double-check the KCKCC ID number is correct.
    2. Make sure to fill out the Course & Section Number or Program Title.
    3. Have everyone sign and date.
      • All forms must have a physical signature from the student, parent and school official.
    4. Rename the form with student’s name and college ID following this structure: Student First Name Last Name KCKCC ID.
      • Keep all forms separate. Do not put the two forms together.
    5. Email to KCKCC.
  • High school counselors are notified of any issues that may prevent enrollment. KCKCC collaborates with the counselor to resolve any issues.
