- Check with financial aid on eligibility for Work Study funding. If eligible, they email a work study authorization form that the student needs to save and use it to apply for Work Study positions.
- Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
- Before dropping/withdrawing from any classes, talk with financial aid to see if it affects eligibility.
- Log in to Handshake with a student email, find the position(s) to apply for, then apply. The supervisor for the job(s) will contact students for interviews or to discuss the position.
- Students need to include a copy of the work study authorization form with their application on Handshake.
- If this job is closely related to the student's major, ask the faculty program coordinator for the department/major about possible internship credit (students who don't know what that is can talk with career services or an Academic Advisor for contact information).
- Review student email for any offer letters. The email includes a portal link to complete the required employment paperwork and schedule a time to meet with Human Resources to complete the I-9/KS Oath appointment.
- F-1 Visa students need to show Career Services or Financial Aid departments their offer email as soon as they receive it. A letter is printed that students need to give their DSO, in order for them to assist in applying for a Social Security number.
When all Human Resources paperwork is complete, Human Resources emails the student and their supervisor to confirm that working can begin.
Financial Aid awards the funding. Students can view it in Self Service under Financial Aid.
