Financial Aid Checklist

1. Apply for Admission to KCKCC

New students to KCKCC must complete an Admission Application. Please submit official high school and all college transcripts to the Record’s Office.

2. Create an FSA ID

The FSA ID is a username and password that must be used to sign the FAFSA and gives students access to their federal financial aid information. Students must have a valid e-mail address to complete this process. Go to Federal Student Aid to create a FSA ID. Dependent students must also have one of their parents create a FSA ID with a valid e-mail address that is different from the one used to create the students’ account.

3. Apply Online

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be filed to determine eligibility for federal grants, student loans, work-study and some college scholarships.

Gather financial information:

  • W-2 forms
  • Federal Income Tax Return
  • Records of child support statements for all children (received or paid) from the previous year.
  • Dependent students will also need a parent(s)/stepparent(s) information.
    • Social Security number(s) and birth dates
    • Income and financial records (as listed above)
  • Current bank statements and records of stocks, bonds, and other investments

Providing consent and approval to have federal tax information transferred directly into the FAFSA form via the FUTURE Act Direct Data Exchange with the IRS is highly recommended. Even if a US tax return was not filed, students must provide consent and approval to be eligible for federal student aid.

4. Receive Notification from the KCKCC Student Financial Aid Office

When the Student Financial Aid Office at KCKCC receives the FAFSA form, students will be notified by email. Requests for more information to complete the file will be sent to  students KCKCC student e-mail. Once the file is completed, an award offer will be sent to the KCKCC student email.

5. Apply for Scholarships and Performance Grants

6. Apply for a Federal Direct Student Loan, If Needed

KCKCC does not automatically award federal student loans. Federal Student Loans are available upon request to all eligible students who complete the FAFSA . Loans will be processed upon the receipt of a Student Loan Request Form and after the student is enrolled in at least 6 eligible credit hours. Loan application information can be requested at the KCKCC Student Financial Aid Office, Technical Education Center or Leavenworth Pioneer Career Center.
