Policies and Guidelines

  1. Participants should be enrolled students of KCKCC, current faculty and staff, or have a membership to use the KCKCC Wellness and Fitness Center (WFC) facility.
  2. All participants are responsible for familiarity and compliance with the policies and guidelines of the WFC. Contact a WFC staff member regarding any issues related to policy, guideline interpretation, or enforcement.
  3. Participants must be 18 years of age or older to exercise in the WFC. High School Dual enrollment students, please see the WFC Director for information on using the facility. Children under 18 and infants are not permitted in the facility.
  4. Participants are required to have a current KCKCC Student ID card or a WFC Membership card to work out. Student ID cards are free and are issued through the Admissions office. The WFC issues WFC Membership cards.
  5. Participants are allowed one (1) guest per semester. Guests are allowed one (1) visit per semester. All guests are required to complete a consent and release form before exercising and must be accompanied by the sponsoring member during the workout visit. Guests must be 18 or older with a valid form of ID to participate.
  6. Towel service is available at the front desk for no charge, and participants are encouraged to use a workout towel when exercising.
  7. Participants are required to wear proper workout attire while exercising.
    • a. Indoor athletic style shoes only. No exceptions.
    • b. Shoes should be clean and dry before using the fitness equipment.
  8. Except for heart rate monitors and/or yoga mats, no personal exercise/sporting goods equipment will be allowed in the WFC for use or storage.
  9. Please refrain from using cell phones in any area of the facility, except for the lobby area.
    • a. Devices should be kept on vibrate or a very quiet ring.
    • b. Headphones are required on all portable electronic devices, including cell phones.
  10. No personal photography or video is permitted in the WFC without written approval and consent from the WFC Director.
  11. Except for service animals, no pets are allowed in the WFC at any time.
  12. All personal items, including gym bags, should be stored in a locker. Participants are responsible for having their own lock. The WFC staff will not be liable to any participant or other person for personal property, whether of inherent worth or sentimental value, that is lost or abandoned in the facility. Lockers are available for “Day Use Only.” Any items left in a locker for 48 hours will be considered abandoned. College Police will collect abandoned items.
  13. Alcohol, smoking, tobacco products, and illicit drugs are prohibited on campus. Participants under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be asked to leave the facility.
  14. Participants are expected to follow gym etiquette. Engaging in threatening, intimidating, or abusive conduct is prohibited. Kansas City Kansas Community College reserves the right to remove, or have removed, any person(s) due to abusive conduct.
  15. Participants should report any medical or non-medical emergencies, criminal activity, lost or abandoned items to a WFC staff member or College Police.
