Degree Check

TEC Certificate candidates must complete a certificate check with a TEC counselor or advisor. TEC candidates should call 913-288-7812 and state which program you are completing to schedule an appointment with the appropriate counselor or advisor.

Career Program candidates must complete a certificate check by contacting your Program Coordinator to schedule an appointment.

Completion of all the Certificate Checks will ensure name placement in the graduation ceremony program.

All associate degree candidates for graduation must complete a Degree Check in the Student Success Center by will ensure name placement in the graduation ceremony program. Please contact the Student Success Center at 913-288-7696 to make an appointment, if you have not had a degree check.

All student must complete a degree check to be eligible to attend the ceremony.

Summer 2021 graduation candidates may participate in the May 2021 ceremony only if the student early enrolled in summer courses by April 15, 2021. Summer candidates must be within nine (9) credit hours of completing degree requirements and must have a degree check before April 15, 2021.

Graduation Fee

A graduation processing fee of $20.00 is required even if students do not participate in the Graduation ceremony. The fee may be paid in the Business Office. The Graduation Fee must be paid before your cap and gown can be picked up.

Honor Cord

Graduating students with a 3.40 or higher cumulative GPA will receive an honor cord with their diploma or certificate by mail.

Military Honor Graduation Cords

In recognition of your military service to the United States of America, Kansas City Kansas Community College would like to honor your graduation by authorizing you to wear the red, white and blue honor cords to your commencement ceremony.

Eligibility: If you are graduating and are an honorably discharged U.S. veteran, are currently serving in the U.S. military (Active Duty, National Guard, or Reserves), you are authorized to wear the Military Honor Cord.

This cord is provided to you at no cost by the KCKCC Veterans Center.  Please visit the Veterans Center with any questions or call 913-288-7592. 

Phi Theta Kappa Stoles

Students must register with the Phi Theta Kappa Director by April 16, 2021 to have this distinction. Graduating students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa must pick up stoles and tassels by Friday, May 7, 2021 in Room 3600 while supplies last.
