The KCKCC Writing Club, digital design program and the KCKCC Art Gallery are hosting a reading by local fiction writer Karen Vaughn. The reading will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 18 in the art gallery, room 2346 in Lower Jewell. This event is free and open to the public. Following the reading will be an open mic for student writers and poets to come read original work. No advance sign-up is required.
Karen M. Vaughn is the author of two short story collections - A Kiss for a Dead Film Star (Brain Mill Press, 2016), which was nominated for a Pushcart Prize and Death Comes for the Trophy Wife (Brain Mill Press, 2021). She earned her bachelor of arts in English from Baker University and went on to study creative writing at Southwest Missouri State University. She is also an editor, having worked for American Family Physician, the Achievement and Assessment Institute at the University of Kansas and numerous freelance outlets. She lives and works in Lawrence, Kan.
