Kansas City Kansas Community College President Dr. Greg Mosier has been chosen to serve as Chair for Wyandotte Economic Development Council Board of Directors in 2023.
Dr. Mosier previously served as First Vice Chair of WYEDC. He has worked closely with economic development efforts in Wyandotte County since he became president in 2018.
“KCKCC continues to focus on providing an educated workforce with the skills to excel in the industries that have made Wyandotte County home,” Dr. Mosier said. “Our partnership with WYEDC has been invaluable in our goal to educate students for high demand, high paying careers.”
WYEDC is a 17-member board with both public and private members including the mayors of Kansas City, Kan., Bonner Springs and Edwardsville as well as representation from the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities and Wyandotte County, among others. The council’s, mission is to promote and strengthen the Wyandotte County economy through programs, partnerships, incentives and leadership in office, retail and industrial markets.
“We are excited for the coming year with Dr. Greg Mosier as board chair of WYEDC. While we already work closely with KCKCC, this will further solidify the relationship between economic development and workforce training we rely on to meet the needs of our business community – and increase household income throughout the county,” said Greg Kindle, president of WYEDC. “The role of KCKCC in working together to attract and retain businesses cannot be overstated – it is critical in today’s challenge of having an available and skilled talent pipeline. The timing of Dr. Mosier taking the helm of the WYEDC Board during the college’s 100th anniversary puts a fine point on the role of the college and support for economic development.”
In many ways, WYEDC has been on the leading edge of creating opportunities for companies to have access to highly skilled employees. The organization takes its role in the community seriously by working with companies to make commitments in hiring locally, supporting training programs and providing internship opportunities to its employees.
“As KCKCC continues to serve Wyandotte County, partnerships with groups like the unified government, industry partners and WYEDC are vital to the college’s mission of enriching our community one student at a time,” Dr. Mosier concluded.
