Call 913-288-7636 or go to the KCKCC Police Department in Jewell Student Center Building, Room 3462. An officer is on-duty 24-7 to answer calls.

The report, in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act and the Higher Education opportunity Act of 2008, is available in the 2024 Annual Security/Fire Safety Report for KCKCC Locations.
Community Engagement Officer
The KCKCC PD is proud to feature a dedicated Community Engagement Officer who serves as a vital bridge between campus safety and our college community. Officer Garcia is passionate about fostering positive relationships through meaningful interaction and education. Whether you're planning a student organization event, a campus safety workshop, a residence hall meeting, or a department gathering, he would be delighted to participate and contribute. Officer Garcia is fluent in Spanish and specializes in providing safety presentations, answering questions about college policies, addressing security concerns, and simply being a friendly, approachable presence at your functions. His door is always open for collaboration and assistance, as he firmly believes that community-oriented policing is essential to maintaining our safe and welcoming campus environment.
CRASE and Safety Training
The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.
Emergency Security Phones
There are seven emergency phones located on campus.
- At the southwest corner of the pond by the State Ave entrance
- At the north end of the pond by the Lodge by the Lake.
- Outside of the Field House
- Between the Library and Health Professions and Public Safety Building
- On the north side of the Softball Field
- On the west of the Social Science & Behavior Building/Science Building.
- On the northwest corner of the Science Building.
Operating instructions are posted on each phone. Simply press the button, wait for a response from the KCKCC police, then state the location and nature of the emergency. The phones pick up sound from within 30 feet. When activated, a bright blue strobe light flashes to help illuminate the area and to alert others of a possible emergency.
Lost and Found
Did you lose personal property on campus? Immediately contact the KCKCC police 913-228-7636, to report the lost item(s) or inquire about item(s) that are lost.
To claim lost property, contact or visit the KCKCC PD in room 3462, Jewell Student Center Building as soon as possible. Property is only released to the owner, and a valid form of identification, such as your KCKCC ID, a valid driver’s license, passport, etc., must be presented.
Property may be picked up between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for designated school holidays/closings.
The KCKCC PD is authorized to inventory all properties, personal or otherwise, when the property is recovered or abandoned. If you find lost property on campus, turn it in to KCKCC police in room 3462 right away. Police do not accept organic matter, containers with a liquid substance or computer storage devices, such as flash drives, thumb drives, etc.
Security Escorts
If anyone feels unsafe walking to a campus location or their vehicle, a KCKCC police can offer a security escort.
Room Unlocks
If faculty or staff are locked out of their classroom or office, KCKCC police can unlock doors on campus.
Title IX
KCKCC is committed to providing non-discriminatory and harassment-free educational, living and working environments for all members of the campus community, including students, faculty, administrators, staff, trustees and visitors. This policy prohibits all forms of sexual or gender-based harassment and sexual assault.
Title IX, regulated by the Office of Civil Rights, prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally funded education programs and activities. All schools who receive any federal financial assistance must comply with Title IX.
