The Associate in Arts Degree in Public Administration is designed to begin the preparation for careers in public service, non-governmental organizations, urban and community planning, and pastoral and philanthropic work. Students with the AAPA will be able to transfer to baccalaureate programs in public administration and related fields, especially to Washburn University, the University of Kansas, and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Students uninterested in transfer possibilities may utilize the AAPA as an effective introduction to, and preparation for, active and effective citizenship.

The AAPA program will emphasize administration, communication, law, planning, research, resource management, and range of public issues. The academic content of the courses will combine the theoretical with both experiential and practical dimensions. Learning and teaching will be interactive, intercultural, and inter-disciplinary.

The Associate in Arts Degree meets the Board of Regents Transfer and Articulation Agreement. A Student completing this program and transferring to a public university, therefore, “will be accepted as having satisfied the general education requirements of all Kansas public universities
