Faculty Mentoring

The Institute for Teaching and Learning facilitates opportunities for all faculty to connect with each other for their personal and professional development.

Faculty mentoring supports the individual needs of faculty members to increase retention and success. These targeted initiatives are designed to foster an academic atmosphere rooted in a culture of academic excellence, a commitment to learner-centered instruction, and quality teaching.

Opportunities

The Institute for Teaching and Learning strives to support faculty at all stages of their careers and classification. The professional development opportunities are delivered in different modalities and include both formal and informal mentorships. The institute focuses on creating faculty learning communities to increase engagement, support and sense of belonging. “Evidence shows that participation in faculty learning communities gets participants out of the silos of their disciplines and increases interest in teaching and in the scholarship of teaching and learning.” (Beach & Cox, 2009)
