Degree Check

Degree Check

TEC Certificate candidates must complete a certificate check with a TEC counselor or advisor. TEC candidates should call 913-288-7812 and state which program you are completing to schedule an appointment with the appropriate counselor or advisor.

Career Program candidates must complete a certificate check by contacting your Program Coordinator to schedule an appointment.

Completion of all the Certificate Checks by March 31, 2020, will ensure name placement in the graduation ceremony program.

All associate degree candidates for graduation must complete a Degree Check in the Student Success Center by March 31, 2020 will ensure name placement in the graduation ceremony program. Please contact the Student Success Center at 913-288-7696 to make an appointment, if you have not had a degree check.

All student must complete a degree check to be eligible to attend the ceremony.

Summer 2020 graduation candidates may participate in the May 2020 ceremony only if the student is early enrolled in summer courses by April 15, 2020. Summer candidates must be within nine (9) credit hours of completing degree requirements and must have a degree check completed by March 31, 2020.

Graduation Fee

A graduation processing fee of $20.00 is required even if students do not participate in the Graduation ceremony. The fee may be paid in the Business Office or online at www.kckcc.edu. The Graduation Fee must be paid before your cap and gown can be picked up.

Cap and Gown - Graduation Announcements

Cap and gown distribution will begin April 13 – May 19, 2020 at the KCKCC Main Campus Bookstore during store hours. Store hours are: Monday & Tuesday 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Wednesday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The Bookstore is located on the lower level of the Jewell Student Center. Sizing availability of caps and gowns will be on a first come, first serve basis. Exact sizing cannot be guaranteed on the final day of distribution.

Caps and gowns will also be available for pickup, at KCKCC’s Leavenworth campus. Contact them early with your cap and gown size. Please bring your Student I.D.

Souvenir tassels, key chains and graduation announcements, will be available at the Main Campus Bookstore for sale.

Honor Cord

Associate Degree seeking Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 graduating students with a 3.40 or higher cumulative GPA will receive a gold honor cord at check-in before the Graduation ceremony. Honors are awarded for completed coursework. All Honors are based on Fall 2020 Semester. July 2020 Summer candidates who participate will not receive honors recognition at the Graduation ceremony. Honors students who do not attend the Graduation Ceremony will receive their honor cords by mail with their diplomas.

Military Honor Graduation Cords

In recognition of your military service to the United States of America, Kansas City Kansas Community College would like to honor your graduation by authorizing you to wear the red, white and blue honor cords to your commencement ceremony.

Eligibility: If you are graduating and are an honorably discharged U.S. veteran, are currently serving in the U.S. military (Active Duty, National Guard, or Reserves), you are authorized to wear the Military Honor Cord.

This cord is provided to you at no cost by the KCKCC Veterans Center.  Please visit the Veterans Center with any questions or call 913-288-7592. 

Phi Theta Kappa Stoles

Graduating students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa are permitted to wear Phi Theta Kappa stoles and tassels at Graduation. These students must register with the Phi Theta Kappa Director in order to have this distinction noted in the Commencement Program by April 10, 2018, Room 3600; 913-288-7190. The cost for the stole and tassel is $35.

Honors Education

Students who are graduating as an Honors Education Graduate (have completed required amount of honors tutorials and honors courses) must register with the Director of Honors Education in order to have this distinction noted in the Commencement Program and on their academic transcript.
