Kansas City Kansas Community College has been a staple in the Leavenworth area community since 1987 where their first satellite office was in downtown Leavenworth on Cherokee Street. In 2015, the college moved to the KCKCC Pioneer Career Center at 1901 Spruce Street in Leavenworth, KS.
The KCKCC PCC offers over 30 college academic classes during the day and evening throughout the fall, spring and summer semesters.
Pioneer Career Center Programs
Students prepare for careers in plumbing, electrical, mason work, and carpentry. Eligible for CERT A after two semesters. Apprenticeship opportunities with more than 10 skilled craft unions.

Students will master the fundamental skills of food service in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, catering, etc. Opportunity to receive practical experience in food service preparation for public meetings and banquets.

Program to develop basic electrical skills, technical knowledge, and related occupational information to prepare for initial employment in the electrical trade.

The CNA course will teach basic nursing care skills and concepts needed for the student to function as a nurse’s aide. This course is authorized by the state of Kansas and upon completion, allows the student to sit for the nurse aide certification examination.

Training is comprised of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Silver brazing, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and sheet metal techniques are also practiced. Program approved for EPA and R-401A refrigerant certification.

Provides insights to jobs related to criminal justice such as US Customs, private investigation, or working with a private police force. Instruction will prepare students for applications, exams, interviews, and background checks respective to this profession.
This program is designed to promote quality early childhood education for all young children, birth through age eight, and to improve professional practice in the early childhood community.

Continuing Education-Community Education Classes

Community Events and Student Activities
The center hosts many free events to the community and students. Some of the community events include a Halloween Bash, Breakfast with Santa and Easter Egg Hunt. Students enjoy events such as Back-to-School Bash, Grocery BINGO, health initiatives, finals week breakfast, pizza with the president and bake sales. There are also community initiatives like United Way and Adopt-A-Family during the holiday season.
