KCKCC Reorganizes Academic Divisions

September 20 2024 Strategic Goals General

As KCKCC continues to transform and prepare for the future, the structure of the college must also evolve. As a result of long, significant evaluation and thought, the overarching structure of Academic Affairs is changing to best to meet the needs of KCKCC students and the community. As part of these changes, the college has eliminated the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences & Public Services (SBSPS). Realigning from five to four instructional divisions brings greater consistency and efficiency of services to all KCKCC students.

The programs and departments within SBSPS remain and have been moved to other divisions to better align like programs and departments to allow greater collaboration and cross-discipline work.

During this process, several programs moved to the Division of Arts, Communications & Humanities. To recognize this change, the division has been renamed the Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences (AHSS).

The newly named AHSS Division now includes programs in addiction counseling, anthropology, economics, education, geography, human development, political science, psychology and social science.

Police/corrections and early childhood education have moved to the renamed Health Professions and Public Safety (HPPS) Division.

Other changes that are being made during this transition include:

  • Blue will move to Academic Support and Assessment (ASA).
  • The Wellness Center will move to auxiliary services.
  • Computer engineering technology and paralegal will move to the Math, Science and Business Technology Division (MSBT).

A realignment of this magnitude requires changes in multiple areas across the college to reflect this new structure. Examples include edits required in the college’s IT systems, the Registrar’s Office, advising, College Catalog, Institutional Effectiveness and website, to name a few. Please be patient as KCKCC works through these changes in the next few weeks.
