With the first day of a new semester just around the corner, Kansas City Kansas Community College invites students and those who wish to enroll to the college’s Back to School Fair.

The Back to School Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 9 in Upper Jewell on the KCKCC Main Campus, 7250 State Ave. The event is free and open to currently enrolled students as well as those who would like to enroll for the fall 2024 semester. The first day of classes is Monday, Aug. 19.

“This event is an excellent opportunity to start the fall semester,” said Dr. Shawn Derritt, dean of student services at KCKCC. “Last year's attendees expressed great appreciation for this chance to prepare for the semester.”

During the event, students can finalize financial aid and learn about scholarships, submit an application if necessary, meet with an advisor to get enrolled, take a placement test, get a parking sticker, learn about community resources and purchase textbooks and supplies from the KCKCC Bookstore. There will also be information regarding student organizations and KCKCC support services such as counseling, student accessibility support services, the learning commons, the military and veteran center, the wellness center, career services and the basic needs center. KCKCC will also be providing a free hot dog lunch to those who attend.
