Posted on Wednesday, October 11, 2023

The Kansas City Kansas Community College Art Gallery is hosting an artist talk with Hugo Ximello-Salido in connection with his artwork exhibition. The meet the artist even will be 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 20 art gallery, which is on the KCKCC Main Campus, 7250 State Ave. This event is free and open to the public. The artwork is on display until Dec. 8.

Hugo Ximello-Salido is a Mexican-born artist and resided in Kansas City for several years before relocating to New Mexico. In his artwork, he strives to explore personal experiences, emotions and connections through the lens of his past and present to create a vibrant future.

The art gallery also partnered with Ximello-Salido and the KCKCC Student Accessibility and Support Services office to give students access to his tactile artwork. “The Path to Gender Fluidity” is an interactive fabric piece that students are able to touch. The bright colors, differing textures and lights draw one into the room and beckon them to come closer to explore the details whether by sight or feel. This temporary installation is in the Student Accessibility and Support Services office. This display is a part of the art gallery’s goal to make art more accessible to everyone.
