KCKCC Enters Partnership with Bellevue University

Kansas City Kansas Community College is celebrating its new partnership with Bellevue University this week with a Grand Opening Event.

The Grand Opening of Bellevue University at KCKCC is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 22 in Upper Jewell on the KCKCC Main Campus, 7250 State Ave. The event is open to the public.

Bellevue is a private, non-profit higher education institution that provides a variety of career-relevant learning programs and services. While its main campus is in Bellevue, Neb., it serves more than 10,000 students each year at 15 locations and online.

Brady Beckman, community college relationship manager, said the foundation of the BU/KCKCC partnership is based upon mutual respect. He said each institution is committed to serving the community with open-access, supportive, lifelong learning opportunities for students.

“BU encourages KCKCC students to successfully complete their associate degree, and then BU offers them a smooth transfer process to capitalize on the success that they’ve already had,” he said. “Ultimately, both BU and KCKCC are invested in helping students achieve their goals and thrive for years to come.”

The partnership makes transferring from KCKCC to Bellevue easy. If students complete an associate degree at KCKCC, all of their credits will transfer to Bellevue. This puts students at the half way point towards their bachelor’s degree. From there, students can complete a bachelor’s at BU in as little as 18 months through online programs. In addition, BU’s generous credit-transfer program has been nationally recognized by Phi Theta Kappa for helping students avoid re-take classes, ultimately saving them time and money. The transfer process is very straightforward, and Beckman is on campus full-time to assist with the process. All application and transfer fees have been waived for KCKCC students, and all students are eligible for introductory transfer grants.

BU also offers more than 25 master’s and doctorate programs. KCKCC employees that are interested in BU programs are automatically given partnership fellowship grants of up to $2,000.
