KCKCC Receiving Local/National Recognition

May 02 2025 General Accomplishments

Kansas City Kansas Community College is making headlines—regionally and nationally—for its innovative programs and strong partnerships with local industries.

This spring, KSHB-TV visited campus to spotlight the Federation of Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) open house and KCKCC’s growing collaboration with Panasonic, where students receive hands-on training in an eight-week apprenticeship course that involves classes at the community college and on-the-job training. The station also featured the college’s newest partnership with Ares CDL Institute, highlighting the comprehensive 180-hour training program. This six-week course blends classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel experience, mentorship, and job placement support—preparing students for success in the transportation industry.

The FAME partnership has also gained national attention. It was showcased in the web series Cool Careers and highlighted in Ingram’s Magazine alongside KCKCC’s registered apprenticeship program. The article focused on the rising demand for technical education and the growing need for highly skilled workers in today’s economy.

The KCK Community Education, Health and Wellness Center continues to get recognition as it was featured in a recent Kansas City Business Journal publication, talking about its progress and expected 2026 completion date. The state-of-the-art facility is being constructed in downtown Kansas City, Kan. with community partners Swope Health and CommunityAmerica Credit Union. The Kansas City, Kan. School District as well as the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kan. have also been instrumental in the project.

KCKCC’s leadership is also earning accolades. In April, President Dr. Greg Mosier was named one of the Top 10 Leaders in Higher Education for 2025 by The Education Magazine. And just this week, the Hechinger Report published a feature on KCKCC’s Panasonic partnership, emphasizing the valuable on-the-job training students receive through the apprenticeship initiative. Dr. Mosier was also featured in two stories about how colleges are increasing efforts to enroll more Hispanic students - one for WHRO Public Media story and another in the Hechinger Report.
