Commercial Driver’s Education classes are available to the community at Kansas City Kansas Community College. KCKCC's Driver's Education course is designed to give students the fundamentals for driving responsibly, safely and defensively. Students must be at least 14 years old to enroll in the course. All course materials are included in the course fee. A certificate of completion will be awarded to the student to take to the DMV upon successfully completing and passing the course. Completing a Driver’s Education course may qualify drivers for insurance discounts.

KCKCC Driver’s Education course includes a nine-hour classroom session and six behind-the-wheel lessons that will be scheduled with the instructor following the completion of the classroom instruction. For students under 18, we require a parent or legal guardian signature on all necessary documents. The parent and legal guardian of the minor student must be present for the first half-hour of the classroom session. Students must successfully complete the initial Kansas handbook test to remain for the duration of the classroom meeting. We recommend reading the Kansas Driver Handbook before attending classroom instruction. Students must also pass a classroom final before beginning behind-the-wheel-training instruction. On the first night of class, you must have an original document of one of the following: certified birth certificate; unexpired U.S. Passport or passport card; Certificate of Naturalization; Certificate of Citizenship; U.S. Consular Report of Birth Abroad.
