Commercial Driver’s Education is available to the community at Kansas City Kansas Community College. KCKCC's Driver's Education course is designed to give students the fundamentals for driving responsibly, safely, and defensively.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Students must be at least fourteen (14) years old to enroll in the course
  • Students must provide proof of identification at the beginning of class
    • Acceptable documents can include the following - certified birth certificate; unexpired U.S. Passport or passport card; State ISsued Identification (ID); Real Identification (ID); Certificate of Naturalization; Certificate of Citizenship; U.S. Consular Report of Birth Abroad.
  • The parent or legal guardian of the minor student (under the age of eighteen (18)) must be present for the first half-hour of the classroom session to provide signatures on all necessary documents
  • The Kansas Department of Revenue requires new drivers to pass the Kansas Driving Handbook test in person. This test is administered at the beginning of the first class.

Students must successfully complete the initial Kansas handbook test to remain for the duration of the classroom meeting. We recommend reading the Kansas Driver Handbook before attending classroom instruction. Students must also pass a classroom final before beginning behind-the-wheel-training instruction.
