The current master contract between the KCKCC Board of Trustees and the Faculty Association of KNEA, which represents unionized KCKCC faculty, was agreed to in 2023 and expires June 30, 2024. The next round of negotiations between the College’s administration and the faculty begins in May,

Communications

The Faculty Negotiation Team met for its initial meeting of the current bargaining cycle on May 8, 2024. In the meeting, the team identified the following issues to address: 

  1. Update language regarding adjunct coordinator (replace discipline with division to reflect original intent and current practice). 
  2. Clarify language in grievance procedure steps. 
  3. Clarify types and number of service activities for two weekly scheduled hours (service to students and/or college). 
  4. Prorating under-enrolled courses (previously included in the contract). 
  5. Update language regarding student metric data and finuncial cost data related to increasing the enrollment cap from 15 to 16 for developmental education courses. 
  6. Compensation and placement on salary schedule for those holding terminal degrees in their field. 
  7. Adjusting load calculations for disciplines in college. 
  8. Article 16: Quality Assurance in Distance Education (clarify ongoing training requirements for teaching in online courses). 
  9. Clarification of 212 teaching faculty duties, language. 

The negotiation team reconvened on May 29, 2024, to review and finalize prioritization of issues to be addressed during the current bargaining cycle and schedule meetings of the team through the summer.
