Honor Cord
Students with a 3.40 or higher cumulative GPA will receive honor cord at check-in before the graduation ceremony. Honors are awarded for completed coursework. All honors announced at the graduation ceremony are based on the Fall 2024 cumulative GPA.
Students who did not attend the ceremony but want their cord, should contact graduation@kckcc.edu to receive their cord.
Phi Theta Kappa Stoles
Graduating students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa are permitted to wear Phi Theta Kappa stoles and tassels at graduation. These students must register with the Phi Theta Kappa Director in order to have this distinction noted in the commencement program by April 15, 2025, Room 3600; 913-288-7190. The cost for the stole is $25 and tassel is $10. They must be purchased by April 15, 2025, in Room 3600.
Honors Education
Students who are graduating as an honors education graduate (have completed the required number of honors tutorials and honors courses) must register with the director of Honors Education in order to have this distinction noted in the commencement program and on their academic transcript by April 15, 2025, Room 3600; 913-288-7190.
Military Honor Graduation Cords
In recognition of military service to the United States of America, Kansas City Kansas Community College would like to honor military students’ graduation by authorizing them to wear the red, white and blue honor cords to their commencement ceremony.
Eligibility
Students who are graduating and are an honorably discharged U.S. veteran or are currently serving in the U.S. military (active duty, National Guard, or reserves), are authorized to wear the military honor cord.
This cord is provided at no cost by the KCKCC Military & Veteran’s Center.
