Nutrition is a desirable science elective for the Associate in Science, Associate in Arts, and Associate in General Studies degree at Kansas City Kansas Community College. It is a practical and valuable subject useful throughout life whether at work, at home, or traveling. Students study how nutrients are used by the body and their relation to the new pyramid food groups and food labels. Proper nutrition for each stage of the human life cycle will be examined, as well as good nutrition in exercise, considerations of diet related health problems, and individual diet assessments.

The following suggested sequence of courses is designed for a transfer program to the College of Human Ecology at Kansas State University. The requirements are for the Bachelor of Science Foods and Nutrition and the Bachelor of Science in Dietetics at Kansas State.  Students should contact a pre-nutrition academic advisor at Kansas State to stay up to date with the very latest information on course transferability.
