The emphasis in the police science, associate in arts transfer degree curriculum, is to integrate the theory of criminal justice and all of its components: corrections, policing, the application of the criminal law, etc., into understandable concepts that the student can utilize in their pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. Students are educated in the various theories of the not only the police profession, but the entire criminal justice profession as defined by general educational theories and principles, procedures, and the expertise of the faculty. In this way, they are exposed to many theories and practical techniques in the form of academic learning and practical application scenarios, designed to enhance their understanding of all entities within the criminal justice system, be that corrections, policing, probation/parole, victim assistance, or the criminal law, for transfer of this degree to a bachelor’s level degree program.
Any deviation from the program must be approved by the Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Public Services.
