Technology Overview for New Students

Upon signing in for the first time, students need to click "Forgot Password" to start the process. Detailed instructions are described in this following video:

KCKCC uses Microsoft Outlook for email. To access email, students must first establish a login for Self Service. The information used to login to Self Service is the same for accessing email.

To access email accounts, select the 'Quick Links' at the top of the website then 'Email'. 

Note: If student's have another account that uses Microsoft and they chose their browser to remember their login information, they need to sign in with another account (using their KCKCC email address).

KCKCC students have access to Office 365. The license includes the ability to download Office applications to a personal device to use while studying at KCKCC.

KCKCC uses Blackboard for online classes. Students use their Self Service login information to access Blackboard from the KCKCC website (kckcc.edu), Quick Links.

KCKCC now has NameCoach, a name recording tool that helps to make name pronunciation easier. With NameCoach, students can record their name for others to hear and listen to the recorded names of others. Students can record their name from any course within Blackboard. 

Record your name in NameCoach.  

Students use their KCKCC email address as the Identity when logging into Wi-Fi. The password is their  regular KCKCC password. 

Wi-Fi Name: KCKCC-WiFI

Students using an Android phone (not iPhone), may need the following additional information to gain access to Wi-Fi. This also applies to Chromebook devices.

• EAP Method: PEAP
• Phase 2 Auth: MSCHAPV2
• CA Certificate: use system certificates
• Online Certificate Status: do not validate
• Domain: kckcc.edu

Students using an iOS device, must select Trust on the certificate that displays after logging in to complete the connection. This also applies to Mac and personally-owned Windows devices.

KCKCC has several locations available for students to attend classes. Campus Map is available to help navigate each college location. 

To navigate the Main Campus (7250 State Ave, Kansas City, KS 66112), the room numbers have been set up to correspond with their floor-level and hallway location.

• Rooms located on the top floor start in the 3000's. The second floor room numbers are in the 2000's. 1000's rooms are located on the bottom floor (Humanities hall only).
  
  
• Hallway room numbers are denoted with the 100's. For instance, all Humanities hallway rooms are either 1100's or 2100's.

The KCKCC Learning Commons is a shared space where students can access and utilize technology, tutoring, and collaboration areas. Study rooms, computers, academic resources, and professional employees are available to support the KCKCC community. The Dean of Academic Support & Assessment, Center for Teaching Excellence, Learning Services, Library Services, Office of Assessment, and Online Education Services are all housed in the Learning Commons. The Learning Commons is a space where faculty and student academic support converge.

KCKCC students have access to OneDrive which gives the ability to store, sync, and share files in the cloud. It is also a place to create folders and keep files organized.

Students can sign into OneDrive using their KCKCC email and password.

Access OneDrive on Campus Computers

Students using a Windows computer on campus can directly access OneDrive by using File Explorer. Use the navigation pane to look for “OneDrive: Kansas City Kansas Community College”. 

Save to OneDrive from Campus Computers

When saving the file, browse to OneDrive: Kansas City Kansas Community College, name the file, then select Save. This saves the file to OneDrive.

Access OneDrive Online

Navigate to Office 365 online. Login then select the App launcher icon and select OneDrive. If OneDrive does not display, select All Apps to view all available Office 365 apps.

KCKCC uses Print Anywhere, which allows students to submit their print job to be retrieved from any Konica Minolta printer on campus. These printers are located in many of the hallways.

Submit Print Job using Campus Computers

1. Login to a campus computer. Print jobs are connected to who is logged into the computer.
2. From the document, select Print, then select printer "KONICA_Universal_Mono" (for black and white printing).
3. Select OK or Print to send to print job to the printer.
4. Locate a printer near you to release the print job.

Submit Print Job using Laptop or Mobile Device

1. Go to papercut.kckcc.edu.
2. Login using student ID number and Self-Service password.
3. Select Web Print.
4. Select Submit a Job.
5. Choose printer KONICA_Universal_Mono (for black and white printing).
6. Click Print Options and Account Selection.
7. Select Upload Documents.
8. Choose Upload from computer or Drag files here.
9. Click Upload and Complete.
10. Locate a printer near you to release the print job.

Release a Print Job

1. Press Start to wake the machine.
2. Enter student ID number or KCKCC email and password, then select Login.
3. Select Release.
4. Select Job from list to print or select all, then select Start.
5. A message displays ("Print job status: the select job(s) have been queued to print") and the job begins to print.

Begin Scanning

1. Approach any Konica Minolta printer on campus. 
2. Press Start to wake the machine.
3. Enter student ID number or KCKCC email and password, then select Login.

Scan Documents to a Thumb Drive

1. Place the document to be scanned on the glass (1 page) or in the automatic feeder on top.
2. Insert thumb drive in slot on right side of printer.
3. Select Scan/Fax.
4. Select Save Document to an external device.
   
   • To rename the file, touch black box that contains file name, clear file name box by pressing delete, type the file name, press OK.
5. Press Start.
6. When screen is clear, remove documents.
7. Remove thumb drive.

Scan Documents to Email

1. Place the document to be scanned on the glass (1 page) or in the automatic feeder on top.
2. Select Scan/Fax.
3. Select Me to scan to email.
   
   • Alternatively, Select Direct Input > Email > then enter email.
4. Review Settings  (1-sided or 2-sided).
5. Press Start.
