Placement Outcomes

Once the student has completed their placement evaluation, they should meet with a Student Success Advisor for help choosing the best academic path. Below are more specifics about academic paths available based on placement outcomes.

English Composition I

Per the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) the following allow a student into English Composition I:

  • 18+ on ACT Reading AND ACT English; OR
  • 500+ on SAT ERW (Evidence-based Reading and Writing); OR
  • 255+ Accuplacer Reading AND Writing; OR
  • 3.0+ high school cumulative unweighted GPA after five or more semesters; OR
  • 16+ ACT Reading AND ACT English AND B or higher (not B-) in most recent high school English course; OR
  • 2.7+ high school cumulative unweighted GPA after five or more semesters AND B or higher (not B-) in most recent high school English course; OR
  • GED® Score: 160

Reading and/or Writing

Based on the pacement evaluation, choose the correct class to enroll.

Scores Outcome
200-226 Enrollment in the Adult Education offered by Continuing Education
227-241 Concurrent enrollment in INRW 0100 and ENGL 0101 is required
242-254 Concurrent enrollment in INRW 0101 and ENGL 0101 is required
255-300 Students may enroll in English Composition I if both scores are 255+

Mathematics

Per the KBOR, one of the following allows a student into core math courses.

College Algebra

  • Math ACT: 22 or higher
  • Math SAT: 540 or higher
  • ALEKS PPL: 46 or higher
  • Accuplacer QAS: 263 or higher
  • HS GPA and Course Grade: 3.25 cumulative GPA (unweighted) and B- or higher in Second Semester Algebra 2 or Integrated Math 3
  • GED® Score: 165
  • Institutional Measure* (including professional discretion)

Contemporary Math and Elementary Statistics

  • Math ACT: 19 or higher
  • Math SAT: 510 or higher
  • ALEKS PPL: 30 or higher
  • Accuplacer QAS: 255 or higher
  • HS GPA and Course Grade: 3.00 cumulative GPA (unweighted) and C- or higher in Second Semester Algebra 2 or Integrated Math 3
  • GED® Score: 160

ACCUPLACER Quantitative Reasoning Algebra and Statistics

Based on the pacement evaluation, choose the correct class to enroll.

Scores Outcome
200-254 Student can enroll in the college math class they need and must take the appropriate corequisite math class with it
255+ Student may enroll in MATH0111 or MATH0115 without the corequisite math class
263+ Student may enroll in MATH0106 without the corequisite math class

ALEKS

0-29 Corequisite needed with MATH0111, MATH0115, or MATH0106
0-45 Corequisite needed with MATH0106
30-100 MATH0111 Contemporary Math and MATH0115 Statistics without corequisite
46-100 MATH0106 College Algebra and MATH0108 Pre-Calculus
61-100 MATH0112 Trigonometry and MATH0120 Calculus 1 (non-engineering)
76-100 MATH0122 Calculus and Analytic Geometry

Adult Education

First-Time College Student

If test score was below 227 on the ACCUPLACER Next Generation Reading or Writing tests, enroll in the Adult Education program.

ESL Student

ESL students testing into the following score ranges should enroll in the ESL program through Adult Education.

  • ACCUPLACER ESL Reading Proficiency score between 1 - 56
  • ACCUPLACER ESL Language Use Proficiency score between 1 - 54
  • ACCUPLACER ESL Sentence Meaning Proficiency score between 1 - 60
  • ACCUPLACER ESL Listening Proficiency score between 1 - 49
