What Will I Learn?
This program teaches students to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills in support of engineers and other professionals engaged in developing, installing, calibrating, modifying and maintaining automated systems. This includes instruction in computer systems; instrumentation; programmable logic controllers (PLCs); electric, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems; actuator and sensor systems; process control; robotics; welding; CAD; machining and metrology; applications to specific industrial tasks and report preparation.
Students interested in pursuing this career should have both inductive and deductive reasoning, problem sensitivity, oral comprehension, near vision and written comprehension.
Career Paths
Graduates are prepared to enter the field of industrial maintenance or can continue on to earn an engineering degree.
This program opens opportunities to become industrial engineers, manufacturing engineers, calibration technologists and technicians, mechanical engineering technologists and robotics technicians.
