Earn your degree in Advanced Manufacturing Debt-Free

At KCKCC, students can start a career they can build on. KCKCC is partnering with the Kansas City Chapter of the Kansas Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (KS FAME) chapter that will not only help solve a local skills trade shortage, but will provide a pathway for students to earn an Associate of Applied Science.

Why choose the FAME program?

Do you thrive within highly regimented, hands-on program? Want to advance quickly in your career? Candidates for FAME track at KCKCC should be career-oriented, academically prepared students seeking rewarding work with attractive benefits. All participants must be college-ready high school graduates interested in pursuing a concentrated two-year, debt-free degree and looking to gain a practical set of valuable and transferable technical skills.

Students accepted into the FAME program will spend two days a week at KCKCC Technical Education Center and the other three days as a paid intern at local manufacturers. This is an “earn while you learn” program, which means students will be earning money and gaining priceless work experience while they are earning their degree.

Students will receive hands-on technical training in multiple manufacturing disciplines including electronics, mechanical, hydraulics and automation. In addition, Advance Manufacturing Technician (AMT) students will be trained in formal business tools such as developing a safety culture, quality tools, lean manufacturing and workplace organization while learning professional behaviors like attendance, teamwork, communication and initiative.

After five semesters students will have earned an associate degree and two years of work experience. Students have the opportunity to be hired by the sponsoring company as full-time employees. However, the program doesn’t require graduates to work for sponsoring companies. Graduates may choose to find a job at another employer or continue their education in advance manufacturing at a participating university.

How to Apply?

To enter the FAME program, students must apply to the KC FAME chapter.
