KCKCC hosted the spring FAME Open House Feb. 19, inviting students, parents and community members to learn more about our AET and FAME program.

FAME participants are college-ready high school graduates pursuing a concentrated, two-year associate degree — completely debt-free. This unique program allows students to gain valuable, transferable technical skills while building real-world experience. Students accepted into the program spend two days each week at the KCKCC Technical Education Center and three days working as paid interns with local manufacturing partners. This “earn while you learn” model means students receive a paycheck while gaining hands-on industry experience and working toward their degree.

Throughout the program, students receive technical training across multiple advanced manufacturing disciplines, including electronics, mechanical systems, hydraulics and automation. In addition, Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) students develop essential business and professional skills such as safety culture, quality systems, lean manufacturing, workplace organization, teamwork, communication and initiative.
