KCKCC’s vocal jazz ensemble The Standard will be opening for two-time GRAMMY® Award winning supergroup Säje at the Folly Jazz Series concert Feb. 28.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with JazzTalk on the main stage where KCKCC’s John Stafford and Dr. Justin Binek will interview the women of Säje about their inspirations, how they got where they are now and more. All ticket holders are invited to attend. Then at 7:30 p.m., the performance begins with The Standard opening the show.
Tickets are on sale now at Folly Theater’s website or by calling 816-474-4444. Tickets range from $31-$66 (including service charges). KCKCC faculty, staff and community partners receive $10 off all tickets, just use promotion code “KCKCC” at check out.
Students can utilize the Folly Theater’s “student rush” program. On the day of the show, bring a valid student ID to the box office and receive $15 tickets.
The Standard is an award-winning contemporary vocal jazz ensemble having been invited to perform at the national conferences of Jazz Education Network, American Choral Directors Association and National Association for Music Education. They also have been selected to perform at the Southwestern Divisional Conference of the American Choral Directors Association, Kansas Music Educators Association In-Service Workshop and New York City Jazz Festival at Jazz at Lincoln Center. They have also received a No. 1 rating at the University of Northern Colorado/Greeley Jazz Festival.
Born out of close friendship and deep admiration, the women of Säje have come together to explore, create and celebrate the music that moves them, earning the group the John Lennon Songwriting Contest Grand Prize Award and two GRAMMY® Awards (2024 and 2025) as they continue to rise to the top of the vocal jazz world.
