What Will I Learn?

The studio arts program is geared toward students who are creative, have a curious nature and are dedicated to their work. Through a variety of coursework, students will learn techniques such as drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, photography, life drawing and screen printing as well as 2D design.

Career Paths

The studio art curriculum is designed to provide the general foundation of art courses typically required when transferring to a four-year college or university for a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Arts in art education degree. If the program is completed as specified at KCKCC, the general education courses will transfer to all Kansas Regents universities.

Career paths in the arts include art teacher, studio artist, preparator, entrepreneur, gallerist, illustrator, animator and art director.

Points of Pride

The KCKCC Studio Art program is proud of its diversity and inclusivity. We have engaged and accomplished instructors who continue to be active in the Kansas City art community.

Student Perspective

“I came to KCKCC unsure of what I was doing and found a community of students and professionals that supported me in a way that I had not previously experienced in upper-level education. Spending time in the art department has inspired me and given me opportunities to grow as not only an artist, but as a person too.”
