What Will I Learn?

The culinary arts certificate program teaches students to master the fundamental skills of food service in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, catering and many more fields within the industry. The program contains daily classroom instruction with practical experience in food service preparation for public meetings and banquets.

The associate degree program continues instruction on the fundamental and essential skills all foodservice personnel utilize. The program culminates with a culinary capstone where students create a restaurant or bakery concept.

Career Paths

After completing the culinary arts certificate or associate degree programs, many career paths available include chef/cook in the restaurant, private household, catering or cruise ship industries.

Graduates can also continue their education to earn a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university.

The KCKCC Culinary Arts program is taught by industry professionals/chefs. The program was also nominated and won the 2021 ATEA National Technical Program of the Year award, and many students have won local, state and national culinary arts competitions.
