What Will I Learn?
The mission of the chemistry program is to develop and support an environment that advances the success and growth of our students, guided by scientific inquiry and the goals of the college. The program strives to promote a community of students with different goals and backgrounds, while emphasizing chemistry as fundamental to other disciplines. For students who plan to continue their education at a four-year college/university, the programs provides a curriculum pathway.
Career Paths
This degree prepares students to transfer to a four-year college/university. There are a few career opportunities such as lab technician or lab associate that can be available with an associates degree in chemistry.
After earning a bachelor's degree, the career opportunities and/or educational opportunities are vast. Moving on to graduate school to obtain a master’s degree or doctorate is common for many chemistry students. Others move forward with pharmacy, medical, dental or veterinary school after achieving a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. Career opportunities include but are not limited to chemical technician, forensic chemist, environmental scientist, toxicologist, polymer chemist, pharmacologist, materials scientist and quality control chemist.
