What Will I Learn?
Students develop proficiency in office skills, gaining a comprehensive understanding of business organization and policies essential for an administrative office professional. The administrative office professional (AOP) and office assistant (OA) programs offer four paths for earning certificates or a degree in the rewarding career of an administrative assistant.
The OA certificate requires only 18-credit hours, while the AOP certificate requires 34-credit hours. To earn the AOP associate in applied science, students must earn 63-credit hours. This two-year associate degree prepares students for an administrative office professional and supervisory position. To complete the program, students are required to complete one semester of on-the-job training.
The final path is the legal administrative assistant certificate where students will learn to understand and describe the structure and organization of the American legal system as well as the fundemental principles of the major subject areas of law. Students will develop communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills while using current web tools and legal software application programs. Those wishing to further their education may transfer their OA to the AOP legal administrative assistant certificate.
Career Paths
Graduates can enter the workforce as an administrative or executive assistant, or in a supervisory role. Administrative professionals work in various fields including marketing, human resources, project management, customer service and secretarial. The legal administrative certificate program trains students for careers as paralegals, legal assistants and court, municipal and license clerks and secretaries.
