General Information
The Health Office is staffed by a certified, registered nurse and is equipped with a variety of supplies, equipment, and over the counter medications for treatment of minor illness or injury. Vision and hearing screenings are available on an appointment basis. A local physician is consulted regularly to provide standing orders for treatment. No problem is too small, so please feel free to utilize the service.
Medical insurance is available to all students attending classes a minimum of 31 days and seeking a degree. Premiums are very low and can be paid annually, or quarterly. Major medical is included. Insurance brochures are available in all study areas and at the Health Office. All uninsured students are encouraged to take advantage of this service or to obtain insurance from another source. Blood pressure screening and weight checks are available in the office on drop-in basis. The Health Service sponsors the community health fair and hosts a multitude of health related programs and screenings throughout the year. Sexually and family planning information and referral is provided on a one-to-one basis, or in print. A student's instructors will be notified of an extended absence that is due to illness (2 days or more) per student request. Call between office hours. The nurse is available as a friendly, confidential listener. If you have a need to discuss a problem or concern, please feel free to drop by. If the nurse is busy an appointment can be arranged, usually within the hour.
