RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT
It is the responsibility of the student to know and to observe the requirements of his/her curriculum and the rules governing academic work. Although the advisor will attempt to help the student make wise decisions, the ultimate responsibility for meeting the requirements rests with the student.
An Associate in General Studies Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences requires satisfactory completion of a minimum of 60 credit hours and a C (2.00) cumulative grade-point average. 9797 Candidates for this degree must present an organized program of study which meets the following core requirements. Authority for substitutions must be obtained from the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
College Requirement: All first time degree-seeking students who score 73 or above on the COMPASS reading exam will take HUDV0100, First Year Experience.
All degree-seeking students who score below 73 on the COMPASS reading exam will take HUDV0101: Strategies for Academic Excellence/Lifelong Learning. (See exemptions)
Basic Skills courses, including:
• 6 hours of Composition
• 3 hours of Public Speaking or Speech Communication
• 3 hours Mathematics; math core elective or specific program requirement.
*College algebra and/or statistics will be required of transfer students where University curriculum requires it.
Humanities: a 3 credit-hour course from
one of the following disciplines:
• Modern Language
Performance courses are excluded.
Social and Behavioral Science: a 3 credit-hour course from one of the following disciplines:
• Political Science
Natural and Physical Science: a 3 credit-hour course.
Additional credit hours of course work to complete 60-hour degree.
