The provisions in this catalog are not to be regarded as a contract between the student and Kansas City Kansas Community College. The College reserves the right to change any provisions or requirements when such action will serve the interest of the College or its students. The College further reserves the right to deny admission, cancel the registration, or ask a student to withdraw when it considers such action to be in the best interest of the College.

The sections of this catalog are hereby declared to be independent and severable, and if any section, subdivision, word, sentence, or clause in this bulletin be held void, or non-enforceable, such holding shall not affect the validity of enforcement of any other part of the catalog which can be given effect without the invalid or non-enforceable portion.

Harassment and Violence Statement

Kansas City Kansas Community College is committed to providing a non-discriminatory and harassment-free educational, living and working environment for all members of the campus community, including students, faculty, administrators, staff, trustees or visitors. This policy prohibits all forms of sexual or gender-based harassment and sexual assault.

Title IX, regulated by the Office of Civil Rights, prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally funded education programs and activities. All schools who receive any federal financial assistance must comply with Title IX.

Equity in Athletics Disclosure Statement

All coeducational institutions of higher education that participate in any federal student financial aid program and have intercollegiate athletic programs are required to provide certain athletic information to students, prospective students, and the public by October 15 each year under the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act of 1994, Section 360B of Public Law 103-382.

Campus Security and Crime Awareness Act of 1990

Passage of the Campus Security and Crime Awareness Act in 1990 requires that all colleges and universities that receive federal financial aid must publish their crime statistics. The Act mandates that crime information be made available to the students and the media in a timely manner. This information is available in the Campus Police office and on the college website.

Student Rights to Academic Records

In compliance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1988, a policy statement concerning students' rights regarding their academic records has been developed at KCKCC. Read more about it on our Students Rights page.

HEA Consumer Information

Federal financial aid regulations, The Higher Education Act of 1965 (HEA), as amended by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA)] requires the disclosure of general information to prospective and current enrolled students with regard to consumer-information.  In accordance with these regulations every effort has been made to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information available; however the content of this information is subject to change due to changes in federal, state, or institutional policies and procedures.

Smoke and Tobacco - Free Campus Policy

Kansas City Kansas Community College (“College” or “KCKCC”) prohibits smoking and the use of all forms of tobacco products and/or electronic cigarettes on College property. The term 'smoking' means any inhaling, exhaling, burning, or carrying any lighted cigar, cigarette, clove, bidis, kreteks, cigarillos, hookahs, or any other tobacco product in any manner or form.

The use of all forms of chewing tobacco and snuff are prohibited at all times on a KCKCC campus, including in all KCKCC buildings, parking lots, hotel rooms provided by the College, college vehicles, residence halls and their grounds, clinics, laboratories, classrooms, private offices, balconies, plazas, vestibules, loading docks, and on any other college property, as well as within close proximity to or causing the obstruction of any building entrance, covered walkway or ventilation system. This policy applies to all employees, students, college affiliates, contractors and visitors and is applicable twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week when such persons are acting within the scope of their employment or otherwise representing the College.

KCKCC prohibits any advertising or sale, or free sampling of tobacco products and/or electronic cigarettes on College property. Littering college property with the remains of tobacco products or any other related waste product is prohibited.

Reason for Policy

The purpose of this policy is to comply with the Kansas Indoor Clean Air Act (KSA 21-6109 through 21-6116) and to assist in the creation of a healthful and comfortable environment for students, faculty, administrators, staff or visitors and any other members of the Kansas City Kansas Community College ("KCKCC") community.

Grace Period for Compliance

Kansas City Kansas Community College is invoking OMB correcting amendment to the uniform grant guidance revising the effective/applicability date of provision (~200.110)a)) to extend the procurement grace period by one additional fiscal year (see”OMB Correcting Amendment Extends Procurement Grace Period.”  For June 30 fiscal year-end, the grace period was extended from June 20, 2017 to June 30, 2018.

Kansas City Kansas Community College will continue to follow the standards in prior OMB guidance and prepare to implement the procurement standards prior to the end of this third and final extension to June 30, 2018.
