All students working towards an Associate in Arts, an Associate in Science, an Associate in Applied Science or an Associate in General Studies must satisfactorily complete one of the following speech classes (students should check their program or major requirements for speech class preference).
**SPCH 151: Public Speaking (3 credit hours) is an introductory course in public speaking which is designed to enable students to become more effective speakers and listeners. Students will develop an appreciation of the rhetoric of public speaking and will put their skills to work in a series of speeches which will develop self-assurance.
**SPCH 153: Interpersonal Communication (3 credit hours) is the study of communication that takes place between two or more persons in day-to-day life. This course will help you understand what works and what doesn't in your communication with friends, families, and co-workers. Areas of study include: perception, verbal and nonverbal messages, listening, and the way relationships develop, are maintained, repaired, or even dissolved.
