When Michael Bukaty graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1981, he wasn’t sure if he actually wanted to earn a four-year college degree.
It was at the suggestion of a counselor that he enrolled at KCKCC – if only to take the fundamental courses such as English, mathematics and science that could later be transferred to a four-year university should he decide to pursue a degree. After completing 30 hours at KCKCC, he later transferred to the University of Kansas where he received a business degree. He is now the chairman and CEO of Bukaty Companies, which he founded in 1992 and is now one of Kansas City’s top-ranked employee benefits and insurance brokerage firms. He currently serves as secretary on the KCKCC Foundation’s Board of Directors.
“My time at KCKCC allowed me to save a substantial amount of money while working and living at home, earn college credits at an affordable rate and equally important, enabled me to confirm that I wanted to pursue a four-year degree,” he said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity KCKCC afforded me and the pathway it set for my future.”
