Dannon Hernandez

Dannon Hernandez realized she wanted to become a nurse after watching those who took care of her mother when she was ill.

“That’s when I chose to become a nurse,” said the December 2022 graduate. “I want to try to give people the same care I saw given to my mother.”

Hernandez was already at KCKCC taking general education classes when she decided to enter the nursing program. She said she immediately felt comfortable.

“KCKCC is close to home, so it was the most convenient option” she said. “It also has this very tight knit group feeling that I really like.”

Hernandez said while the program is fast paced, she learned a lot during her time at the college.

“I feel like I formed a lot of really close bonds,” she said. “I learned how to stay focused, stay on task and sometimes, that you need to be flexible. Learning how to do some of those things now is helping me prepare for the future.”
