Once you have made application and completed the placement test, it is recommended that you consult with an academic advisor, counselor, or program coordinator to seek advice with planning your schedule.
It is important to develop your educational goals. Many students are undecided. KCKCC has resources to assist you.
You can make an appointment in the Student Advising Center for initial advising assistance by calling (913) 288-7696. Office hours vary when classes are not in session. Please contact the Student Advising Center for the most up-to-date information on appointment availability and walk-in hours.
Students are responsible for making appointments with an Advisor or Counselor to develop a degree program while at KCKCC. Our professional staff can assist students with planning and achieving educational and career objectives, locating information about course prerequisites, transferability of courses, the sequence in which courses should be taken, and refer students interested in Career Programs (Associate in Applied Science degrees).
The following information and links can help students in completing degree requirements. Always consult your advisor and/or a counselor when you have questions or concerns about requirements. Keep in mind, the ultimate responsibility for meeting the requirements rests with the student.
KCKCC offers an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree and Certificates in a variety of Career Programs. The intent of these career programs is to prepare students for employment at the end of one or two years of study. Students are expected to follow the degree requirements developed by the College's advisory committee and approved by the State.
