Multiple campers were recognized at the Kansas City Kansas Community College coed basketball clinic for their accomplishments.
Earning trophies of excellence were Jaron Robinson, Most Improved; Tyler Rose and Maggie Livingston, Hustler Award; James Harris, Best Offensive Performance; and Jessica Guilbeaux, Coaches Award. Also earning recognition for their shooting accuracy were free throw champs: Corey Kephart, Tyler Rose, Caitlin Reed, Evin Copeland, Jessica Guilbeaux, Khalil Milligan, Erin Copeland and James Harris. Erin and James were also our three point champions.
Campers were given instruction and practice on how to improve their basketball skills the week of July 23-26th and competed in daily contests. Individuals were selected each day by the coaching staff for their superior efforts and given KCKCC memorabilia. Recipients of KCKCC memorabilia were: Jessica Guilbeaux, Darius Drew, Chris Brewer, Caroline Dorr, James Harris, Caitlin Reed, Amaya Stice, Evin Copeland, Erin Copeland, Jarriell Jackson, Khalil Milligan, Mikeala Bennett, Melanie Daniels, Phillip Mitchell, Jr., Phillip Dixon, Christina Rangel, D’khari Lyons, Sara Dominguez, and Aaron Armstrong. At the close of camp, each camper received a certificate of participation.
Alicia Roth, KCKCC Assistant Women’s Basketball coach and camp coordinator, said, “Camp participation exceeded our expectations. Sixty-three campers participated in our fundamentals and offensive skills clinics which is the most campers we’ve had in my three years at KCKCC. This increased interest from our community means we’re providing an outreach for KCK’s youth and we’re proud to do just that”.
Alicia Roth applauded the campers and her student-athlete staff saying, “Campers that want to learn and student-athletes willing to teach made the entire camp experience a success. I enjoyed watching our campers having fun – smiles are a clear sign that the kids are enjoying themselves. And I’m grateful to have had the assistance I did this year – my staff was top-notch”.
KCKCC will host a winter basketball clinic for boys & girls looking to improve their basketball skills. The clinic will take place during winter break in late December or early January. Look for more details in the fall.
