Track Team Looks Forward To Bring The National Championship Back To KCKCC

The Kansas City Kansas track team is looking forward to an Outdoor Season to remember. They have talent all across the board. With All Americans Jahrome Foster, Romaine McKay and Yawusa Kinda transferring to others schools, sophomores Kevin Venerable and Sharde St. Louis will have to step up and be leaders. They have a lot of new faces and Coach Hobson feels that if they work hard they will reach their full potential. Some of the new faces include Delano Hutchins, Tonya Jones, and Trichelle Heard which all transferred from Johnson County CC. They should bring a lot of speed to the team. Makessi Andrews, Lester Herbert, and Raffique Providence from Trinidad and Sophomore Kennan Simmons from Florida should make great legs on the 4x4. Transferring from the Washington DC area are sprinter Emmanuel Freeland and jumper Warren Gray. They both are State Champions and both intend to provide a great spark to the men’s side. On the women’s side Aubree Dorsey, Anuola Bailey, and Candice St. Louis will give great speed to the 4x1. Sophomore NiKeshia Williams will provide leadership and hopes to have success in the 100 and 200m dashes. VaShunta Johnston who also played Basketball for the Girls KCK team with bring a lot of speed, and Mya Thomas and Whitney Mitchell who both do the Shot Put will excel in the field area.

Coach Hobson has coached many pro athletes such as Maurice Green, Mark Jelks, Leroy Dixon and Rodney Martin just to name a few. So he knows how to do to produce great athletes. So if the KCK track team practices hard the sky is the limit. The outdoor season kicks off at K.T Woodman Classic at Wichita State April 13th, and following that is Kansas Relays.
