Assessment Workshops

The Office of Assessment offers workshops on a variety of assessment-related issues and topics. These workshops can be held either at the Office of Assessment, or at other meetings, such as Division or Program meetings. The presentation portion of the workshop generally lasts for 60 minutes, leaving 30 minutes for discussion or activities.

The following workshops are available:

Assessment 101 – We introduce assessment, and provide an overview of the assessment process, as well as examples of well-designed assessment plans.

Writing Effective Learning Outcomes – We assist you in defining your program and/or course, and in explicitly describing the skills, knowledge, and attitudes students develop as a result of your program/course.

Selecting Instruments – We describe what types of instruments can be used to measure student learning and development, and where one can find these instruments.

Classroom Assessment Techniques – We cover some of the common and popular classroom assessment techniques from the classic book by Thomas Angelo and K. Patricia Cross.

Writing Performance Assessments and Scoring Rubrics – We describe the different types of performance assessments (e.g., oral tests, portfolios) often used in program assessment, and how to grade these assessments reliably.

Analyzing Test Data – We will describe the basics of analyzing and interpreting test data.

TracDat Training - We will train you on how to use TracDat from Nuventive, Inc. to manage your assessment activities.
