The Kansas Board of Regents, under whose auspices the General Educational Development Examination is given, has the following requirements:
- Persons must be at least 18 years of age.
- Persons cannot be currently enrolled in high school.
- Persons cannot hold a high school equivalency certificate or diploma.
- Persons who are 16 or 17 years old may take the GED test if they have officially withdrawn from high school, have had an exit interview, and have a signed disclaimer form.
