Scholarship Application

The Kansas City Kansas Community College Endowment Association will be awarding Frank and Doris Schlagle Scholarships to deserving students for the Fall 2009 semester. APPLICATION DEADLINE IS JUNE 15, 2009. These scholarships cover tuition, fees and required course books for six to fifteen credit hours per semester. Students must enroll in a minimum of six credit hours. There will be a limited number of scholarships available. Qualified applicants will be considered on a first come first serve basis.

ALL STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE WITHIN THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES:

  • Must be a Kansas Resident.
  • Priority given to Wyandotte and Leavenworth County Students.
  • Academic Requirement: High School or College G.P.A. of 3.5 and/or meet established standardized test requirements (i.e. ACT, ASSET, and SAT, GED).
  • Must be pursing an Associate Degree or Certificate from Kansas City Kansas Community College.
  • Must not be receiving any form of gift aid other than the allowable $1,000.00 per semester of PELL Grant (based on full-time status). Forms of gift aid not allowed include grants, scholarships, tuition assistance, employee tuition reimbursement, etc. [Applicant must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have the results available to Endowment by the June 15th Deadline.]

The Frank and Doris Schlagle Scholarship is renewable as long as the student maintains a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5, completes 100% of the courses taken, received no more than $1,000.00 per semester in PELL eligibility based on full-time status, and receives no other form of gift aid.
TO APPLY, APPLICANTS MUST COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING FORMS AND MAIL OR TURN THEM INTO THE APPROPRIATE OFFICE:

  1. Application for admission (available in the Admissions office…complete and return to the admissions office);
  2. Request for official final transcripts and scores from high school, college, ACT, ASSET, SAT, GED, etc. to be sent to the Admissions AND the Endowment Offices;
  3. Complete application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA….available in the Financial Aid office… return to financial aid and file electronically…allow 4 weeks for processing). Information from the Student Aid Report will not be available until your application has been processed. Information must be available to Endowment by the June 15th Deadline. Student must reapply each academic year (beginning each Fall) to be considered for renewal;
  4. Scholarship application form (available in the Financial Aid office….complete and return to Financial Aid Office).
ALL THE ABOVE INFORMATION MUST BE AVAILABLE TO US BY THE JUNE 15TH DEADLINE IN ORDER FOR YOU TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A FALL 2009 FRANK AND DORIS SCHLAGLE SCHOLARSHIP!
