Medical Assistant - Technical Certificate
The Medical Assistant program is designed to prepare students to work in a medical facility. Clinical functions include taking vital signs and patient histories; assisting with exams, treatments and office surgery; collecting specimens; sterilization procedures; basic first aid and CPR. Administrative functions include scheduling and receiving patients, obtaining and maintaining patient data, completing insurance forms, arranging for hospital admission, billing, collection, etc. The program culminates in a 180-hour non-paid externship in which the student has the opportunity to work in a medical office, putting the classroom work into real-life action.
Applications for admission to the program are accepted all year round for Fall and Spring semester day and evening cohorts. Please contact the Technical Education Center for the current application packet and updated application deadlines.
